Tyler Joing

Tyler joined the Campus Recreation team in May 2018 and provides oversight for Outdoor Recreation Georgia Tech’s expedition programs and indoor climbing wall. Since his arrival, he has managed over 81 expeditions, leading 7 of those to locations including Alaska, Cyprus, New Zealand, and Scotland.

Before coming to Tech, Tyler earned his Master of Science degree from Western Kentucky University serving as the Graduate Assistant of Outdoor Recreation, leading weekend adventure trips, managing the equipment rental program and serving as a service mechanic in their bike shop. He earned his bachelor’s from the University of Minnesota, leading student trips in backpacking, rock climbing and ice climbing. Tyler is a certified Wilderness First Responder and in his spare time, enjoys canoe trips in his native Minnesota, snowboarding and playing the saxophone.”
