Brian Smith

Brian Smith is currently serving as the Senior Director of Campus Recreation for Georgia Tech.  Brian joined Georgia Tech in July 2022 after serving in multiple roles at the recreation center at the University of California, Los Angeles. He brings to Georgia Tech a diverse background in recreation and wellness programming that he plans to use to grow the stellar programming that the CRC offers the campus community. Brian Smith started his professional career at Elon University in 2006 as an assistant director of Campus Recreation. In the summer of 2007, Brian accepted a position at UCLA as a coordinator of Competitive Sports. Brian spent the next 15 years in various roles at UCLA.

Brian has instituted several program and operational changes to bring department offerings more in line with national standards. This includes software upgrades, a department reorganization, an emphasis on student programming and development, and providing more access to the CRC’s spaces. He has a passion for all things competitive, creating team environments, being active, and seeing students reach their potential through campus involvement. Personally, you can find him reliving glory days on the softball or football field, in the gym, playing golf, traveling the world, or in the kitchen making one of his many favorite dishes.
