Bike Shop Operation Update

The Bike Shop’s operation is currently under construction. We are currently arranging our space, hiring technicians, and building an inventory of supplies. Our commitment is to offer low cost repairs to Campus Recreation patrons.

Bike Shop Repairs

Initially, the repairs we can offer will be pretty simple–tires, tubes, derailleurs, brake adjustments, etc. Beyond our first few weeks of operation, we will begin expanding our services to include a much wider range of repairs. Eventually, we will offer repair services for e-bikes and scooters as well.

Bike Shop Fees – Simple Repairs

For all repairs, we will charge $5 for up to the first hour of labor plus the cost of parts. We will stock many popular sizes of tubes, tires, and commonly replaced parts like chains, brake pads, and shifter cables. Most simple repairs like fixing a flat tire or changing brake pads will cost less than $10. In many cases, we will be able to fix your bike while you wait.

Bike Shop Fees – Complex Repairs

For all repairs, we will charge $5 for up to the first hour of labor plus the cost of parts. For more complex repairs or if we need to special order supplies for your repair, you can make an appointment to bring your bike in when the parts have arrived. If your bike has a significant issue or multiple issues, we offer free assessments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We can give our recommendations and an estimate of the cost for getting your bike into shape.

ABOUT THE BIKE SHOP

  • The benefits of cycling to the community and to individuals who ride are too many to discuss here. Cycling is a healthy choice. The biggest threat to enjoying the benefits of cycling is a bike that’s unrideable. We want to keep you on the road (or get you back on the road if your bike breaks down.)
  • The shop is equipped with workstations, tools, bike stands, truing stands, storage, lube, and parts—almost everything needed to get bikes back on the road quickly.
  • We have a team of 6-7 student technicians working under the direction of a lead Bike Mechanic.
  • Minor repairs can be completed while you wait. Or consider dropping your bike off and getting a workout in at the CRC while we work on your bike.
  • Generally, we cannot store bikes overnight. We will charge $10 per night for bikes left at the shop without permission. If the complexity of a repair requires us to keep your bike overnight, we will waive the fee.
  • Before a bike is repaired, a full diagnostic will be completed by our mechanics.
  • We only install new parts. We do not use or install recycled parts.
  • The Bike Shop does not sell parts without installation, bikes, or bike accessories.

BIKE SHOP HOURS OF OPERATION

We are opening on August 14, 2025. Our hours are subject changes as we learn how to best serve the Tech community. We will be open for drop-in repairs Monday – Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we offer free assessments. Drop-in or make an appointment. The Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Bike Shop will be your one-stop shop for bike maintenance offering an array of services from free air to tune-ups.
