Start of the 2022 PI Mile Race

Tyler Brown Pi Mile

About

The Tyler Brown Pi Mile is a 3.14 mile running trail on the Georgia Tech campus. There are four starting points on campus (east, west, north, and south) and disc-shaped markers and maps along the way to keep walkers and runners on the trail. The sidewalk in front of the CRC is one of the starting points. Download the Map

History

This trail was named for former SGA President, Tyler Brown (MGT 01, HTS 01), who was killed in Iraq while on active duty. One of Tyler's major goals while in office was to implement a safe, well-lit running trail on Georgia Tech's campus. ROTC member, Tyler would run early in the morning and wanted to make running on campus safe at all hours. At the time of his death, the plans for the trail were almost complete.

Dean George C. Griffin Pi Mile Race

The Dean George C. Griffin Pi Mile Race is a tradition that celebrates the endurance and spirit of Jackets and the Georgia Tech community. The race is one of the longest continually running races in Atlanta. Runners, dogs, and strollers made their way across the finish line after weaving through Georgia Tech campus along part of the Tyler Brown Pi-Mile Trail.
