Climbing Wall Attendant

The climbing wall staff are responsible for the overall operation of the climbing wall area including checking climbers in, belaying climbers, teaching climbing classes, monitoring climbers for safety, as well as the maintenance of the wall area including keep the gear and equipment clean and organized.


Competitive Sports Student Manager

The competitive sports student manager position is a critical part of the Campus Recreation Complex. Under the supervision of the Competition Coordinator – Staff Development, student managers play a significant role in ensuring administrative tasks in support of the intramural, sport clubs, and summer camp programs are completed.

Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication (all forms), attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic atmosphere. This will include the ability to prioritize, work independently and with others, and take on leadership roles within the Competitive Sports area.

Starting pay is $9 per hour. Shifts are available Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.


Facility Assistant

The facility assistant position is an integral part of the Campus Recreation Center. Under the supervision of the building supervisors as well as the Assistant Director and Coordinator of Facilities, facility assistants play a significant role in maintaining a safe and pleasant environment for our patrons.

1. Be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations that govern the Campus Recreation Center and ensure the safety of our patrons through consistent and equitable enforcement of these rules.
2. Be familiar with, and able to implement our Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
3. Monitor and control access to the Campus Recreation Center and the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
4. Provide patrons with accurate information regarding facility operations and programs.
1. Ensure that all daily use equipment is suitable for use
2. Attend monthly meetings and/or in-service training
3. Communicate to building supervisors, the Assistant Director, and the Coordinator any situations that arise during your shift
4. Other duties as assigned

-Must possess CPR/AED and 1st Aid certifications within 30 days from being hired – Courses provided by the Department.
-Must be able to work at least 9 hours per week during the semester – exception can be made on a case by case basis (especially during holidays and breaks).


Fitness Attendant

Fitness Attendants are responsible for the safety of the CRC patrons. This includes:
• Being a first responder in an emergency situation
• Enforcing fitness center rules and policies
• Ensuring the fitness center is clean and everything is in its place
• Spotting the members and showing them how to correctly use machines
• Answering basic fitness questions and showing patrons new exercises
• Reporting broken/malfunctioning equipment to CRC maintenance
• Reporting any other facility/patron issues to the Building Supervisor on duty
• Responsible for attending monthly in-service trainings/make-up meetings

Fitness Attendants are responsible for maintaining current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, having basic fitness and exercise equipment knowledge and knowing/understanding fitness center rules.

Additionally, when on duty, the fitness attendant should continuously circulate the entire Fitness Area. If there are two people on duty one person needs to be in the Free Weight Area and one person circulating through the Machine and Cardiovascular area. Also, when 2 people are on duty, one should be going to the 5th floor to clean, check equipment and watch patrons.

Fitness Attendants should also strive to provide exceptional customer service to patrons/guests. You should work to ensure that all patrons have an enjoyable and safe visit. Fitness Attendants should have a certain level of understanding regarding all areas of the CRC and be able to refer patrons to the proper source if they are unsure of the answer to a specific question.


Group Fitness Instructor

The CRC only hires personal trainers and group fitness instructors who are certified by nationally recognized fitness organizations (ex. ACE, AFAA, ACSM). The CRC does provide fitness attendants information on this process and how to obtain these certifications; however, it is required that students work for a minimum of one semester as a fitness attendant before they may proceed in this process.


Intramural Official

Intramural Official jobs will start in Fall 2017. Candidates must attend all Intramural Official training dates.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 5:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. and Sunday 3 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Starting pay is $9 per hour.

Previous officiating experience is helpful, although not required as we provide training for all sports. The only qualification is being open to learning something new. Be warned…once you learn the art of officiating, you’ll never watch a sporting event the same again


Leadership Challenge Course Facilitator

NOTE: This is a part-time ON CALL position only.

The number of groups making reservations will determine how often work is available. Additional training days will also be scheduled.

The course is open 7 days per week. Work hours can be as early as 7 a.m. and as late as midnight. Most shifts last 6 hours. Some are 8 hours

Staff are able to pick their schedule based on their class schedule.

The job will consist of:
1. Deliver content and skill building sessions.
2. Group management, group processing, promoting transfer of experiences, and risk management as you instruct both High and Low Ropes Challenge Course experiences.
3. Assist with teaching leadership skill mini-lessons during courses with subject such as: Effective communication, Critical thinking, Group problem solving, Effective team work, Cross discipline cooperation, Solution implementation, Adaptability, and Flexibility
4. Equip and instruct participants in the proper use of Challenge Course Complex facilities, equipment, and supplies.
5. Teach and Monitor participant’s proper safety practices
6. Assist with emergency rescues/lowers as appropriate
7. Assist with completion of various paperwork including items such as equipment use logs, incident reports, and course inspection reports.
8. Assist with setup and breakdown of course equipment including items such as ropes, harnesses, helmets, safety gear, course elements and classroom equipment including items such as tables, chairs, whiteboards, LCD projector, computers, etc…
9. Perform minor maintenance of course elements (e.g. clear leaves on elements, wipe down equipment after use, tidy work area, etc…
10. Maintain familiarity and compliance with training materials, ACCT standards, and Standard Operating Procedures of Georgia Tech Campus Recreation.
11. Attend & complete technical skills and facilitation skills trainings and meetings
12. Engage in examination and evaluation processes for various skill sets.



The lifeguard’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Prevent accidents and eliminate or minimize hazardous situations.
• Respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as needed.
• Show up for work, on time, when scheduled.
• Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Carry out all additional duties assigned by the Lifeguard Managers, Shift Supervisors, Head Guards, Pool Operator, Aquatic Coordinator, or his designee.
• Maintain your Ellis and Associates lifeguard license, and CPR/FA certifications.

Marketing Assistant

Marketing Assistant Job description:
• Create and implement CRC marketing and promotion initiatives
• Assist with upcoming special events, promotions, and outreach including FASET (freshman orientation), Kaiser Permanente Corporate Challenge, Welcome Home Events, CRC Employee Orientation, and more
• Assist in designing and distributing internal and external marketing materials including but not limited to: program guides, fliers, posters
• Write and edit content for newsletters, website, direct marketing, etc.
• Assist in advertising efforts via the student newspaper, Georgia Tech Cable Network, and digital signage
• Assist in updating social media including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
• Approve, control, and maintain building signage and advertising from CRC and Georgia Tech Community groups and programs
• Ensure and control the correct usage of all CRC and subsidiary branding images
• Other duties as assigned
Skills required:
• Proficient at Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Proposed Schedule:
The marketing intern will work a part-time schedule of 8-10 hours per week. The Campus Recreation Center’s office hours are 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The schedule will vary depending on special events and promotions.


Member Services Assistant

The Member Services Student Assistant reports primarily to the Membership Coordinator of Member Services and to the Assistant Director of Member Services. The Member Services department is responsible for ensuring that excellent customer service is provided to all customers at all times. Further, Member Services is the central hub for assisting customers who have questions regarding programs and services. Last, it is the sole point-of-sale location for all membership and program registrations. 

Essential Functions:
-Register customers for memberships and programs.
-Will serve customers face-to-face or via telephone and must maintain a positive and upbeat demeanor at all times. 
-Handles and resolves complaints.
-Directs requests and issues to the designated resource.
-Serve as primary contact for answering any and all questions about programs and services (pricing, descriptions, and class start dates).
-Educate and inform patrons of the rules and regulations as necessary.
-Utilize membership software to process membership and class registrations.
-Responsible for taking payment for classes and balancing payments to daily reports.
-Provide tours of the facility, as needed.
-Manage the lost and found.
-Manage music selection in the facility.
-Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
-Proactively stay up-to-date with changes to policies or procedures.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
-Must be a Georgia Tech student (year 1, 2, or 3)
-Must have previous experience (job or volunteer) in customer service.
-Must be able to work at least 6 hours/week.
-Must be an excellent communicator and must be able to multi-task during heavy periods of use.
-Must have a high attention to detail and be comfortable with basic accounting procedures.
-Must complete a First-Aid/AED/CPR certification class within 60 days of employment. The class is free of charge.


Personal Trainer

The CRC only hires personal trainers and group fitness instructors who are certified by nationally recognized fitness organizations (ex. ACE, AFAA, ACSM). The CRC does provide fitness attendants information on this process and how to obtain these certifications; however, it is required that students work for a minimum of one semester as a fitness attendant before they may proceed in this process.


Pool Technician

This position primarily ensures the cleanliness of all aquatic areas of the Campus Recreation Center. Also, completes daily maintenance duties, performs scheduled maintenance, inspects the facilities and performs cleaning duties as necessary. They will also report conditions to the Aquatics Coordinator and keeps the supervisor informed of maintenance issues. Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.


Special Operations

Job Responsibilities:
• Perform preventive maintenance procedures in and around facilities on a scheduled basis.
• Uses hand tools and power tools in making minor maintenance repairs and maintaining grounds and walks.
• Assists with the renovation/remodeling of the building; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures and performs touch-up painting when needed.
• Performs outside custodial duties, such as clearing snow from entrances and walkways as required.
• Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.
• Assists skilled maintenance workers with projects (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner.
• Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
• Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.
• Repairs furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.
• Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Picks up and delivers supplies and materials throughout the building and across the campus.
• Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Dusts furniture, equipment, and ledges throughout the building.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Maintains inventory and submits requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
• Provides assistance to officials, staff, visitors, and other employees as necessary.
• Operates power equipment such as forklifts, carpet extractors, pressure washer, hand and power tools and campus vehicles.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Student Business Assistant

Pay Rate: $9.00 per hour

Hours per Week: 10 - 12

Job Description:         

The Student Business Assistant supports the pursuit of the CRC’s mission to inspire and promote healthy lifestyles at Georgia Tech through the diligent reconciliation of daily business transactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • First-Aid/AED/CPR certification (or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of employment)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous cash handling and revenue reconciliation skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Must collaborate and work well with all CRC departments
  • Strong problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Must work well without direct supervision
  • Must stay up to date with CRC policies and events
  • Pass a credit, and criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous business/accounting experience

Essential Functions:

  • Reconcile daily funds from CRC point of sale locations
  • Communicate with Member Services Coordinator to identify transaction errors and problem solve deposit issues
  • Prepare daily revenue deposits for processing with the Bursar’s Office
  • Maintain revenue and deposit records at the CRC
  • Maintain daily revenue log
  • Generate fiscal reports based on daily revenue log for departmental access
  • Produce parking permit reports and collaborate with Parking & Transportation Services to resolve discrepancies 


Summer Camp Counselor

General Information: The Camp Supervisor is responsible for supervising camp participants, ages 6-14, leading activities (art and crafts, physical activities, etc.), working as a team, with other Camp Supervisors and Camp Managers, to creatively encourage participation in all activities. Establish the first line of positive feedback and discipline practices, and field trip supervision.

Specific Hours: Must be flexible Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Dates of Employment: Summer 2018

Qualifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and Standard First Aid certifications are required prior to working a shift (offered through Campus Recreation once employed). Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills.


  •  Assist with the preparing, establishing, and leading of the recreational programs for the campers.
  • Conducts activities as specified by the Camp Manager.
  • Reports any problems or unsafe conditions to the Camp Manager/Director.
  • Completes any necessary forms including accident/incident reports, feedback forms, activity planning forms, etc.
  • Assists the Camp Director and Camp Manager with any other tasks needed at teCh wReCk

*This position is for summer semester only. You can work full-time for summer camp then start with a different CRC department in the Fall.


Swim Instructor

The swimming instructor’s responsibilities include:
• The safety of all of their students.
• Teaching the skills that are required for each level.
• Noting the progress and needs of each student and turning in all documentation at the end of each session.
• Keeping the parents of youth lessons or the adult student informed of their progress and advising them about future classes.
• Must be certified in both CPR and First Aid.

Wilderness Outpost

The ORGT Wilderness Outpost Staff are responsible for the CRC's camping equipment rental fleet.  This includes helping customers choose the right gear, offering information and answering questions, and teaching them how to set up and use the gear.  Outpost staff also register customers for ORGT Adventure Sport classes/trips.  Additionally, the Outpost staff are responsible for the maintenance of the department including keeping the gear and equipment clean and organized.
